Advanced Search Filters for Search Editorial
These filters are found and active only when
Advanced Search is viewable (set to On).
Categories
Search only among images within a topic area of interest to you:
- Search All - Images from all categories
- Commercial - Fresh, compelling rights managed and royalty-free images for advertising, design, business, communications, and publishing. Includes lifestyle, business, technology, medical, sports, concepts, travel, nature, and contemporary images from Corbis photographers.
- Editorial - Images that tell stories...about current breaking news from around the world...and about iconic events and people - both past and present - from the worlds of entertainment, politics, sports, business, fashion, art, science, literature, and more.
- Historical - Images that illustrate the whole range of past human experience, including politics, war, science, entertainment, fashion, and lifestyles.
- Art - Images focusing on works of pictorial, sculptural, graphic, architectural, and design craftsmanship.
- News - Current, breaking images that chronicle political tides, economic booms and busts, and front-page events that impact our world.
- Sports - Discover the greatest moments in sports captured by Corbis' first-string sports photographers. Editorial-style coverage of international athletic events and celebrity sports photography.
- Entertainment - Experience the thrill of the red carpet through timely images that celebrate your favorite music, fashion, film, and TV personalities. From awards to retrospectives, you'll find images depicting events and people here.
Source - Limit search results to images provided to Corbis by an agency, organization, newspaper or other institution; Boolean expressions are allowable.
Search In English - Available in non-English user interfaces only; allows users to specify that search words be interpreted as English.
Orientation
Limit your search results to images that have a defined orientation. Available in Images search only.
- Vertical
- Images that are taller than they are wide
- Horizontal
- Images that are wider than they are tall
- Panoramic
- Vertical or horizontal images with twice the dimension in either direction
Search For
- Images
- Image Sets
- Enter words when searching for News, Entertainment, or Sports-related images only to find thematically-related groups of images. Click on See Image Set(s) below result thumbnails to view all images for that set. Some filter options will not be available for Image Set searching, as indicated below and within More Search Options tips.
Photographer Name - Limit search results to images created by a specific photographer; Boolean expressions are allowable.
Image Number
- Enter up to 235 image numbers in the More Search Options Image Numbers box, but separate them with commas.
- Do not include the number sign (#) with image numbers.
- Available in Images search only.
Only Model-Released - Limit your search to results of images having model releases on file with Corbis' Legal Department by selecting the checkbox labeled Only Model Released. Available in Images search only.
Only Images on CD (RF) - Search for all images that can be found on our Royalty-Free CDs. To use, check this filter and the Royalty-Free filter.
Image Attributes
- Photography - All photographic work in the collection; excludes
images described as Illustration below. Available in Images search
only.
- Illustrations - All two-dimensional, non-photographic works
in the collection; may include stock illustration, book and newspaper
illustration, prints, paintings, drawings, and any other two-dimensional
content. Available in Images search only.
- Color and
Black & White - Limit your search results to images that are Black &
White (includes sepia and monochrome) or Color only. Available in
Images search only.
Point of View - (Available in Images search only.)
Limit search results to images depicting the following vantage points:
- All

People in Image (Available in Images search only.)
Limit search results to depictions of the following specified number of people:
- With or Without People

Limit search results to images of the following resolution qualities:

- Half to full-page 5 x 7" to 8.5 x 11" use at 300ppi
- Ultra
- Full page to double page, or posters and larger prints. Approximately 8.5 x 11" to 11 x 17" at 300ppi.
